From 2–4 May 2026, gravel riders will gather in North Wales for one of the UK’s most distinctive cycling events — a rally-inspired ride through forests, moorland, and high mountain tracks.
Inspired by more than eighty years of rallying heritage in North Wales, the Gravel Rally brings that spirit to two wheels.
Eryri — known internationally as Snowdonia — is a 2,130 km² national park of rugged peaks, sweeping valleys, dense forests, and sparkling lakes. Its dramatic terrain provides the perfect playground for gravel riders seeking technical climbs, fast descents, and unforgettable scenery.
Set against these landscapes, the event blends gravel adventure with the spirit of the legendary rally stages that have echoed through these forests and valleys.
First launched in 2022, the Gravel Rally has established itself as a unique fixture on the UK gravel calendar and built a loyal following among riders seeking a tougher, more adventurous gravel experience.
Based at Clwb Rygbi Nant Conwy in the Conwy Valley, the rally takes riders deep into remote terrain — from open moorland and forest tracks to steep mountain climbs and fast gravel descents.

How would you describe the Gravel Rally for new riders?
The Pan Celtic Gravel Rally is a micro-adventure — a weekend gathering for people who love riding bikes in remote areas where terrain and nature take centre stage.
“It’s all about exploring paths less trodden, sharing the trails with friends, and enjoying the challenge.”
There’s an optional Night Stage and two route choices: Full or Short.
What inspired the rally-style format with timed sectors?
Rallying in North Wales is world-renowned and iconic. Its history reverberates around the valleys and forests of the national parks.
When riding through the area, it already feels like rallying — technical terrain and fast flowing gravel roads make every ride exciting.
“The format gives riders the chance to race hard on the timed sectors, but also relax on the transitions — ride with mates, meet new people, and enjoy the scenery.”
How has the event evolved over the years?
The event has gone from strength to strength while keeping a grassroots feel.
Our rally base at Clwb Rygbi Nant Conwy allows us to create a fantastic atmosphere in the shadow of the Conwy Valley mountains.

How does the location shape the route?
Being in Eryri National Park means the route is hard no matter what.
There are no easy options — the best trails take riders across open moorland with spectacular views. The course includes brutal climbs, fast gravel descents, and immersive forest sections.

What kind of terrain should riders expect?
The Gravel Rally covers:

Even the last climb — which people definitely curse — ends with a free bar at the top!
Advice for riders new to timed sectors
Use the transitions wisely. Timed sectors include steep climbs, rugged gravel paths, and gnarly hike-a-bike sections. Riders who rest well between sectors usually perform better overall.
“Most importantly — remember it’s just a ride. Having a good time is what matters.”
What does the Night Stage add?
Riding at night feels like entering a completely different world. Your vision is limited and other senses go into overdrive.
“The forest fills with riders’ lights weaving through the trees, creating an incredible atmosphere. It’s an exhilarating test of navigation and skill — but also just great fun.”
Are there any standout sectors?
The first climb and last climb stick in riders’ memories — they’re brutal.
Sector highlights include:
- The climb past the huge failed dam at Eigiau — spectacular and historically fascinating
- Sector 5 — the best gravel descent in the area, with views that are hard to tear your eyes from
